Stand With Minnesota

Document Offline

Create an offline archive/timeline. Preserve photos, videos, and posts. Include as much detail as possible (who, what, where, when). Things are being deleted or taken down for various reasons, by both posters and platforms. This information could prove useful in the future.

Manage Security

With ICE and CBP agents targeting BIPOC people and stalking and harassing legal observers, preserving people’s identity and location is important.  Implementing some basic measures can be meaningful in countering surveillance by the federal agents. Adopt these strategies and share them with people you know.

Avoid posting sensitive information online
Do not share details about private groups, actions, or individuals online without permission. Many people are avoiding online attention to protect themselves.

Minimize your digital footprint
Consider using privacy-focused browsers and search engines (such as Brave and DuckDuckGo) that prioritize your privacy and do not track your searches. Be mindful of websites you visit and the information you provide them.

Consider using an end-to-end encrypted email service (such as Proton).

Stop using Ring cameras, cancel Ring subscriptions, and/or opt out of Flock

Ring has partnered with Flock, an AI surveillance tech company that shares camera footage with law enforcement agencies, reportedly including ICE.

Use encrypted messaging apps
Help your community combat digital surveillance while people are on the streets. Learn how to safely use encrypted messaging apps like Signal and Jami.

Secure your devices
Disable biometric authentication (FaceID and TouchID) on your devices. These can be used to unlock your phone without your permission.

Review Privacy Settings

Regularly check and adjust your privacy settings on your phone, apps, and social media accounts to control who can see your information and how it is used.

Keep software up to date
Keep your phone up to date. Updates often include security updates that make it harder for spyware to be used against you.

Keep Informed

Keeping informed will help you make decisions about your own involvement in the resistance. As you are taking in information, remember to take breaks as needed.
