Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [Your City, State].

I’m calling/writing to urge Senator/Representative [Name] to OPPOSE any funding or reforms that fail to rein in ICE  — and to push for moves to dismantle, defund, or restrict ICE.

The public executions of Renee Good and Alex Petti are part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against our communities.

We can't wait around while ICE harms more people and continues to terrorize our communities.

We need you to lead the way and stand up for your rights, our rights, and for human rights.

Write Letters to the Editor
Letters to the editor are useful because they:

  • Reach a large audience

  • Can address information not covered in news articles

  • Often (not always) respond to a specific news article

  • Are often monitored by elected officials

The ACLU has an excellent how-to guide for people writing letters to the editor here: Letter Writing Tips.
Reclaim Democracy has another excellent guide here: Effective Letters to the Editor

Put Pressure on Companies Complicit with ICE

Companies depend on our dollars to keep them going. Letting them know how you feel about their actions — through boycotting and/or contacting them — can have a big impact.

Jess Craven has a current list of businesses to boycott/contact here. Another list to consider is here. Several companies are listed below.

Target

Call/email Michael Fiddelke - Chair & CEO of Target
Phone: 612-304-6073
Email: michael.fiddelke@target.com

Customs and Border Patrol agents assaulted and kidnapped two US citizens as they were working their shift at Target. Target has allowed ICE to stage operations in their parking lots.

Target is Minnesota’s fourth largest employer in the state and has the potential to be a leader among businesses in standing with Minnesotans against these attacks.

Possible script
My name is [NAME], and I am a resident of [CITY].

I am calling/writing to demand that Target exercise its 4th amendment rights and NOT allow ICE to use its premises for staging or operation of any kind.

I was a lifelong Target shopper until you began to capitulate to Trump's tyrannical demands. I will never again shop at Target unless you cease any involvement with Trump or ICE, and reinstate your DEI policy.

Do the right thing. Do the brave thing. Stand up for your rights, our rights, for your employees, and for your customers.

Enterprise

Call/email Chrissy Taylor - President & CEO of Enterprise
Phone: 314-512-5000
Email: christine.taylor@ehi.com

Enterprise has rented more than a thousand vehicles to ICE agents in Minnesota, and more nationwide. They are directly enabling agents to kidnap our neighbors and terrorize our communities.

Possible script
I’m calling/writing as a concerned Twin Cities community member asking you to STOP helping ICE harm our citizens. Enterprise is renting cars to ICE agents, and our communities do NOT support this. These cars are the same ones being used to kidnap our loved ones, rip families apart, and terrorize our communities.

I will no longer do business with (and will encourage everyone I know to boycott) Enterprise unless the company ends its contract with ICE and stops renting cars to them.

Stand up for your community and your customers. Stop aiding and abetting kidnappers and terrorists in our cities.

Home Depot

Call/Email Ted Decker - Chair, Pres, CEO at Home Depot
Phone: 800-466-3337
Email: ted_decker@homedepot.com

Home Depot has been allowing ICE in their parking lots and stores to question, attack, and kidnap anyone they decide “looks like an immigrant.” Home Depot is a leading collaborator in creating the “show me your papers” culture of this moment.

Possible script
My name is [NAME] and I am a resident of [CITY]. (optional)

I am calling/writing to demand that Home Depot stop assisting ICE in their unlawful, violent, and illegal terrorizing of our communities.

I used to be a Home Depot shopper, but I will no longer shop there — and will encourage everyone I know to boycott Home Depot until you stop supporting the horrors that are happening around us.

Do the right thing. Do the brave thing. Stand up for your rights, our rights, for your employees, and for your customers.

Delta Airlines

Call/Email Ed Bastian - CEO of Delta Airlines
Phone: (404) 715-2600
Email: ed.bastian@delta.com

Delta has facilitated deportation flights for ICE, transporting detained individuals and directly enabling agents to kidnap people and avoid their constitutional right to due process.

Delta is one of Minnesota’s leading corporate citizens, a significant employer in the state, and uses the airport as one of its main US hubs.  We need Delta to stand with Minnesotans against these attacks.

Possible script
I am calling/writing to demand that Delta stop assisting ICE with the illegal kidnapping and transporting of people.

Delta Airlines must make a clear, public commitment to stop participating in deportation flights — chartered or commercial, direct or disguised. These flights enable ICE to tear families apart and avoid due process.

I’ve been a regular Delta flyer, but I will no longer use Delta — and will encourage everyone I know to boycott Delta until you stop supporting the horrors that are happening around us.

Stand up for your community and your customers. Stop aiding and abetting kidnappers and terrorists in our cities.

Hilton

Email Ed Bastian - CEO of Hilton
Email: christopher.nassetta@hilton.com

Call specific locations where ICE are reportedly staying and ask to speak to the manager. Please be kind to the staff who answer the phone.

Hilton Hotels have not only continued to house ICE agents but caved to pressure by the far right to drop a franchise in Minneapolis that refused to allow ICE to stay in their hotel.

Possible script
I am a calling/writing because I understand that ICE agents and their accomplices are staying at your hotel. ICE has been terrorizing our communities with unlawful and inhumane raids. We do not want ICE agents in our city.

I urge you to ask all ICE agents to immediately check out, and to not accept any more ICE reservations. Until then, I will actively push for a boycott on [HOTEL NAME].

Send Snail Mail

Sending snail mail to your legislators and to businesses is another effective way to make your opinion known.

Physical mail piles up (harder to ignore) and has the added benefit that every person who touches the mail will see it, spreading the message even farther. Postcards are especially useful in this way.

Signs of Justice
has both physical postcards and downloadable postcards you can print yourself.
